Hello. My name is Morgan Powell and I am a designer/animator/director/webdesigner. Snobo is the name that I use when I make websites.

If you've got a few minutes please take time to visit my Production Blog for a more in-depth description of some of the animations that you see here (UPDATE- I've been proper graftin' lately so I havent had time to update this side of things). The plan is that I will post my progression on future projects, so it would be great if you can comment- I'm always looking to develop and collaborate on projects.
Also, visit Seed Animation; I'm co-founder and Creative Director there. If you want to hire me and/or the team, you can email me: morgan at snobo dot co dot uk or morgan at seedanimation dot com.

Swirly lines test
We were asked to pitch for a commercial based on different shades of blue line and incorporating spots relating to travel. This is what I came up with. Im quite pleased with the composition and the look.
Neil did the flower anim.

FredEx
Here's a clip that pays homage to retro cartoon. Us at Seed were asked to do a 10 seconder for Channel Frederator, so I nicked it to produce on my own. I wanted to see if I could recreate dated looking animation using 3D. The brief was: The pros and cons of being a robot at a reunion.
I really like the look and the characters. Im hoping that I can reuse them at some stage. You can find out how I did it on my Production Blog.

Pinhead
I got together with budding illustrators Karl and Dan who helped me to develop a new style direction.
There's no storyline to this one, it's simply a test to see if I could put some Flash animation through After Effects to stop it looking like Flash.
We did throw some stories around; Pinhead was going to be a bowler with an explosive ball. The ball would be his defence against the monkeys that were taking over the city.

Animex Ident '06
Chris Williams asked us at Seed to come up with something graphical for this years sting based on a colour halftone version of the character that I had created from the logo 2 years before, so Neil and I taught ourselves particles and dynamics and produced this.

E4 Music Sting Commission
Although my previous sting didn't feature in their top 10, E4 commissioned me to produce another ident for their E4 Music launch. My intention was to produce a series of 4, all featuring play on words and evil death.
They commissioned just the one unfortunately. The one I made is called 'Skip!'; the others we're called 'Rock-it', 'See-Saw' and 'Weeeee!' Once you've seen the sting you'll understand where I was going with it.

Chris Williams, Festival Director, saw my E4 sting and digged its homage to comic-ness, so asked for the ident to be in the same style. I adapted it to include a few different styles of animation. This was a comission for Seed, so Neil and Rob animated on it too.

Freerange
I initially designed these characters when Seed was called Freerange. They were going to be interactive characters on our website. Then we noticed that there was a company in Australia called Freerange Animation, so we changed our name to Seed.
I didn't want the characters to fall by the wayside, so I started making these flyers. They managed to drum up enough interest to win money to make an animated trailer. Neil, Rob and I animated on it for 4 weeks.
The trailer has been around the festival circuit and has featured on onedotzero, BBC Film Network, ITV, Australian TV and others I can't recall right now. No-one has commissioned the series yet, but I'm hopeful.

E4 Competition Sting
I was into Batman and the colour orange at the time. I thought it would be a good thing for me to enter the competition. Luckily, purple goes with orange. Taking comic style reference from 'Mythology' by Alex Ross, well, that was my excuse to buy the book anyway.

I did this as part of a workshop back in 2003. It got really limited exposure at the festival, but Chris Williams saw it and liked the style. Off the back of this, Seed won the commission for '05. Really basic stuff, but strong colours and good character animation. Music by Karl Stobbs and his band Monte Casino.
